SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 4

McCabe, Mitchell, Sprouse, Edgell, Ross, Minard, Kessler and
Hunter)
Requesting the Division of Highways name the new bridge near
Smithers, Fayette County, crossing Smithers Creek, the "Eddie
A. Long Bridge".

Whereas, The Division of Highways has constructed a new bridge
near the City of Smithers, Fayette County, which crosses Smithers
Creek; and

Whereas, The Mayor of the City of Smithers, the Honorable
Eddie A. Long, worked diligently with city, county and state
officials to make this bridge a reality; and

Whereas, On October 9, 2000, the city council of Smithers
adopted a resolution requesting the new bridge crossing Smithers
Creek be named in recognition of Mayor Eddie A. Long, in
appreciation of the efforts he put forth to make the bridge a
reality; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways
name the new bridge near Smithers, Fayette County, crossing
Smithers Creek, the "Eddie A. Long Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner is requested to have
made and be placed, at either end of the bridge, signs identifying
the bridge as the "Eddie A. Long Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner
of the Division of Highways.
